Folders, VPN and IE overhaul on the cards for WP8?

Forget for a moment about whether or not your device will get Windows Phone 8, because a few new details have surfaced on Chinese forums about what the upcoming OS might include.

The list, via insideris.com, states that among the known features revealed in the Joe Belfiore video that hit the web a few months back, Windows Phone 8 will supposedly bring an overhaul of Internet Explorer, folders, bulk SMS/MMS deletion and enhanced support for the Chinese language, while a VPN option could also be making its debut in the new operating system.

The VPN option could be dumped before the OS hits retail according to the post, and may show up in WP8.5.

Additionally, it is said that in the beta versions of Windows Phone 7.5, there was the ability to close an application by touching a small x in the top corner when surfing a list of open apps, but it was apparently pulled before the OS was distributed. This feature could make its way back in to Windows Phone 8, but only will time will tell.

There certainly has been a lot of chatter lately about WP8 - known also by its codename "Apollo". While we hope to hear more in the near future, these reports are still unconfirmed at this time and should be taken with a healthy dose of sea salt.

Thanks for the tip Foxiefoxie!
