For Honor 1.08 update now available for PC, introduces leaver penalty

For Honor"s new 1.08 update, which just landed for the medieval fighting game, adds a number of changes, but the most anticipated one is the arrival of its quit penalty. From now on, any player that exits a match in progress will receive a penalty, where they cannot queue for another matchup for a period of time.

Ubisoft"s comments regarding the highly requested addition are as follows:

We are now able to activate the Quit Penalty feature during matches. When activated, players leaving the session will receive a penalty. This will reduce the amount of Rage Quitting during matches and improve the overall quality of match experience. The feature is included in this TU but will only be activated at a later date.

In effect, any player trying to leave a match will receive a warning message informing them of the penalty, and those who do proceed to quit will be barred from matchmaking for 10 minutes, this even applies to entire parties if a group leader leaves. It"s currently unclear if the period is extended for repeat offenders, a la Rocket League, but it’s a welcome change nonetheless.

However, players leaving a match during the first 30 seconds will not suffer the penalty"s effects, according to the developer this decision is to " account for incomplete groups/matchmaking issues".

In addition to the leaver penalty, the update inserts multiple changes and bug fixes to the game, such as players now being correctly rewarded for completing AI matches and more. All the new developments can be found in the official changelog.

The 1.08 update is now available on For Honor"s PC version, with the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 consoles expected to receive the update late next week.
