At the annual ChinaJoy expo in Shanghai, Microsoft today announced a peculiar crossover; those who have always had the fantasy of driving the luxurious Regalia from Final Fantasy XV in the open-world of Forza Horizon 3, will be able to do so, starting from August 1.
As evident by its launch trailer, the car is quite a spectacle. Unfortunately, the trailer may not be completely true to how things are in the game. It’s not possible to open or close the top on a convertible in the game, for example. Still, with its quoted 7.2-liter supercharged V12 engine delivering 536 horsepower, it’s surely enough to take players on a ride.
Everyone who has played Forza Horizon 3 on an Xbox One, Xbox One S, or a Windows 10 PC, will receive The Regalia for free via the in-game messaging system, as is usually the case.
However, interestingly, the DLC is also available for free to (almost) everyone who has played Final Fantasy XV on an Xbox One or Xbox One S; players will receive a code via the Xbox Live messaging system, which they may use to redeem the DLC. Unfortunately, Microsoft does note that this offer won’t be available in all markets but doesn"t specify which ones.
This isn’t the first time Forza Horizon 3 has had an odd crossover; in April this year, the game saw the release of an expansion featuring cars and tracks from Hot Wheels. It’s certainly a testament to the open-world nature of Forza Horizon 3, as it offers far more flexibility to experiment and try unique ideas. But, the 167 cars in a more realistic Forza Motorsport 7 are also nice - there"s something for everyone.
