Foxconn has been in the news a lot lately. From reports of people being injured in riots last month, to stories about thousands of assembly-line employees on strike yesterday, the news has not been positive for the Taiwanese-based company.
The question is whether these stories are true or not. Reuters is reporting that Foxconn officials have denied that there are any work stoppages at their plant. According to the email, not only are employees not on strike, but they also state that there have been no delays in any Foxconn facility. The only workplace issue they admit to are some small arguments that happened on October 1st and 2nd, both of which were addressed by adding additional employees to the production line. Officials also mention that employees who worked on China"s National Day received three times their normal pay in accordance with Chinese law.
So how can reports of a factory strike involving thousands of employees be incorrect? Is Foxconn trying to cover-up the issues in the factory, or is this the case of a rumor running out of control?
