Now that Windows 8 is out for some people, and you"ve probably installed a bunch of apps from the Windows Store already, why not take a look at how much space those apps actually take up?
We"ve selected a thread from our forums that shows you how you can achieve this and keep track of how much space those apps are taking up.
Introduction
More and more new features that are present in the Windows 8 RTM but not in the release preview are being revealed.
Today, I want to talk about a new neat little handy feature that is included in the RTM version of Windows 8. It"s a new addition to the Metro Modern-UI style control panel in Windows 8 that will let you see how much space is left on your hard drive AND how much space each Modern-UI style app is taking up your hard drive. I am sure many of you will find this feature a very welcoming one, as in the past, it was quite hard to see how much disk space these apps were using without actually examining the app directories manually.
To activate it, go to the General section of the Metro Style control panel. Or you can directly search for it from the Start screen by typing relevant words like, "app size", "size", "space", "disk space", etc.
You will need the RTM version of Windows 8 (or later) to be able to do this!
A search for "space" does the trick too.
You can also get view it by opening the Charms bar (Winkey + C) > Settings > PC settings > General, and scrolling down a bit to the Available Storage section of the page and click View app sizes.
You can also find it in the General section of PC settings.

But wait!
As a reminder, anyone can check out the final release of Windows 8, right now! That is if you don"t mind only having it for a maximum of 90 days. A Microsoft ID is required, and the Enterprise version can be downloaded and evaluated (which includes Windows To Go) which will see you out till Windows becomes available for retail on October 26th.
Be sure to read the conditions, because there is no upgrade path to a valid key from the evaluation version.
