Galaxy Note9 S Pen tipped to have music playback, self-timer controls via Bluetooth

Samsung is expected to reveal the next-generation Galaxy Note phablet next month, but more rumors about the upcoming flagship device keep surfacing even as the launch date is drawing near. A little more than a week ago, renowned leaker Ice universe hinted at "the biggest update" coming to the Galaxy Note lineup"s S Pen without offering further details.

Now, a fresh leak from the same leaker might give us some clue about what"s going to be new with the upcoming stylus set to launch along with the Galaxy Note9. Ice universe claimed that the S Pen is supposed to gain Bluetooth functionality which will let users play music or remotely set a self-timer, among other capabilities.

Additionally, the Galaxy Note9"s S Pen is said to be capable of performing other tasks not related to what the traditional stylus used to do. It remains unknown what those other capabilities are beyond the stated examples that will make it "a pen with a soul".

Recent rumors surrounding the Galaxy Note9 suggest the upcoming phablet will include 8GB of RAM and 512GB of internal storage under the hood, sport a massive 6.4-inch display, and pack either a 3,850mAh or 4,000mAh battery. Official details about the next Galaxy Note will be unveiled at Samsung"s Unpacked 2018 event set to take place in New York City on August 9.
