In the latest update for the Galaxy Watch4, Samsung has added new watch faces to give users more customisation options and it has added new improvements for cyclist and runner interval training as well as a sleep coaching programme to help people develop better sleeping habits. For those who want to splash the cash, Samsung is also offering a new selection of watch straps.
Commenting on today’s news, Janghyun Yoon, Executive Vice President and Head of Software Platform at Mobile eXperience Business, said:
“We understand the growing needs of smartwatch users, and are committed to guiding our Galaxy Watch4 series community on their unique wellness journeys with our latest update. We are excited to continue this effort as part of our wider initiative to redefine holistic wellness through expanded experiences and new innovations.”
The new update introduces several new ways to encourage people to get active, firstly, there are new interval targets for runners and cyclists that lets them set the duration, distance, and number of sets in their workout. The Galaxy Watch4 then guides them through their training session, providing an impactful and targeted workout.
Samsung Health will also start providing users with body composition insights via Centr to deliver insights into health, fitness, and mindset. Galaxy Watch4 users will be able to get full access to Centr during a 30-day trial where they can assess if they’d like to purchase a premium membership.
Being healthy isn’t all about exercise, sleep is important too. In this update, Samsung adds a sleep coaching programme to help users develop better sleeping habits. Initially, the programme will monitor your sleep for seven days and get you to finish two surveys. It will then assign you a sleeping type represented by an animal and then guide you through a month-long coaching programme that includes missions, checklists, sleep-related articles, meditation guidance, and regular reports.
The new software update will be available to users through the Galaxy Wearable app for Galaxy Watch4 and Galaxy Watch4 Classic from February 10. The new watch straps will go up for sale in late February. In the coming months, Samsung said it also plans to bring Google Assistant to the Galaxy Watch4 series.
