Game makers tie up for graphics board

Sega Corp., Namco Ltd. and Nintendo Co. announced Monday they have teamed up to develop a computer graphics board for commercial use based on Nintendo"s popular GameCube console.

The Triforce board will be able to run three-dimensional graphics software for home entertainment video games and similar products based on the technology that powers Nintendo"s console, they said in a joint statement.

The tie-up deal is based on a joint development plan signed by Sega and Namco in September 2001, but includes Nintendo as a new partner.

The companies plans to demonstrate a prototype of the Triforce board at the AOU 2002 Amusement Expo at the Makuhari Messe in Chiba on Feb. 22.
