Games with Gold: Sonic Generations and Shantae Half-Genie Hero are now free

As the midway point of March rolls in, Microsoft is sticking to the Games with Gold schedule it announced last month by making two more titles free to claim. Xbox Live Gold and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers can now grab Shantae: Half-Genie Hero for Xbox One and Sonic Generations for Xbox 360.

The latter Sonic title is also available for Xbox One console owners to claim for free as the game is part of the backward compatibility program.

Use a Gold activated account to claim the games directly using the store links listed below:

Shantae: Half-Genie Hero (Xbox One)

There’s a mysterious crime spree sweeping Sequin Land, and only Shantae can save the day! In this beautifully rendered 2-D platformer, send monsters flying using Shantae’s devastating Hair-Whip Attack or transform into powerful creatures using her magical Belly Dance. Defeat the masterminds behind each caper and faceoff against her ultimate nemesis, the bodacious buccaneer Risky Boots!

Sonic Generations (Xbox 360 and Xbox One)

Sonic’s universe is thrown into chaos in Sonic Generations. Thrown back in time by a mysterious new power, interact with some very familiar characters from the past including a younger version of himself! With this thrilling team-up, save their friends, defeat their enemies and discover who is behind this diabolical deed.

Meanwhile, a game from the previous Games with Gold wave is still up for grabs if anyone missed out on it. Xbox One owners can claim Batman: The Enemy Within - The Complete Season until the end of the month.

Keep in mind that Xbox 360 games gained through Games with Gold promotions will continue being available even if the Xbox Live Gold subscription is discontinued. However, claimed Xbox One games are only playable while the account is actively subscribed to Gold, either through Xbox Live Gold or Xbox Game Pass Ultimate services.
