The second annual GamesCom trade fair kicked off today in Cologne, Germany. The event is world"s largest video game show with 245,000 visitors, more than 4,000 journalists and 458 exhibitors from 31 countries attending the show in its first year. Microsoft, Sony and Electronic Arts are just some of the many video game companies set to make an appearance at the event.
The following titles saw various announcements during today"s Sony Press conference.
NBA 2K11
2k Sports has released the full-length debut trailer for NBA 2K11 which features current NBA stars, legends from years past, and cover athlete Michael Jordan.
The latest game in the franchise is slated for release in North America on October 5, 2010 and an in Europe on October 8, 2010. The title will be available for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 2, PlayStation Portable, Wii and PC.
LittleBigPlanet 2
Media Molecule"s LittleBigPlanet 2 saw the release of a new trailer during the Sony press conference. The video demonstrates the level customization available in the upcoming sequel including story, music, cinematics, characters and controls.
The title is set to hit store shelves on November 16, 2010 in North America as a PlayStation 3 exclusive. A European release date is still unknown.
inFamous 2
Sony showed off the GamesCom trailer for inFamous 2 today. It features plenty of electricity and destruction in the city, all in slow motion.
The game is expected to be released sometime next year.
Resistance 3
A trailer was shown at the Sony GamesCom press conference, beginning with a train traveling through the countryside, before showing a gun being readied in a destroyed landscape. People on the train are then seen clasping their hands in fear, before gunfire erupts and the Chimera emerged.
The reveal will finally put gamers at ease in regards to the game after first being outed in a billboard last year, followed then by a retail listing in July.
The title is slated to be released in 2011.
Ratchet and Clank: All 4 One
Ratchet & Clank: All 4 One is a four-player co-op experience with huge battles and tons of cooperative gameplay. Players will be able to take the role of Dr. Nefarious and Captain Qwark alongside both Ratchet and Clank. The game will also feature an online drop-in, drop-out option, giving players the ability to play together side-by-side or online with up to three other friends.
A release date has yet to be announced.
Virtua Tennis 4
Sony revealed Virtua Tennis 4 during its GamesCom press conference and announced that the title would be compatible with the company"s upcoming PlayStation Move technology.
In addition to PlayStation Move, the title will also support 3D technology alongside Sony"s Move. "Virtua Tennis 4 is a fantastic example of how our 3rd Party partners are seeing the potential not just in PlayStation Move, but also 3D," said Simon Rutter, Senior Vice President, Sales & Marketing at SCEE. "The combination of both Move and 3D offers an entirely new gaming experience and one that has the potential to completely change how people interact with their entertainment. Virtua Tennis 4 shows how this technology can be implemented and we are very excited to be working with SEGA on this.
"We have always strived to provide a tennis experience that is both true to the sport and great fun to play, and we are continuing to work with Sony to make this happen", commented Gary Knight, Senior Vice President of Marketing at SEGA Europe and SEGA America. "With Virtua Tennis 4 being developed for PlayStation Move and featuring 3D technology, the boundaries of realism in sports video games are being pushed even further".

Gran Turismo 5
Sony has finally announced the European release date for Gran Turismo 5. The title will be hitting store shelves on November 3, 2010.
