Gamescom 2011 is in full swing in Cologne, Germany and there"s even more news that has been revealed during the show including even more new game announcements:
- NCsoft has finally announced Wildstar, a new and upcoming MMO title from its internal developer Carbine Studios. It"s a anime-inspired mix of sci-fi and fantasy.
- Paradox Interactive has announced War of the Roses, a Middle Ages themed multiplayer action game from developer Fatshark that"s due out in 2012.
- CD Project has announced plans to release a major update for its RPG The Witcher 2 in September that will add a new Dark Mode difficulty level, a tutorial, an Arena mode and more.
- Blizzard has all but confirmed that its upcoming PC action-RPG sequel Diablo 3 will be coming to consoles at some point.
- Nordic Games has acquired JoWood and its Adventure Company subsidiary a few months after JoWood declared bankruptcy earlier this year.
- The Gamescom DOTA 2 tournament is in full swing and the matches have shown off both the game and its impressive esports spectator features.
- Speaking of DOTA, Blizzard has said that its StarCraft II mod Blizzard DOTA should be released just before the game"s first expansion pack Heart of the Swarm.
- Bethesda Softworks has confirmed that the PC version of The Elder Scrolls V Skyrim will support Valve"s Steamworks.
- Valve"s founder Gabe Newell said that EA"s decision to remove some of its games from Valve"s Steam service was due to "a whole complicated set of issues" but added that Valve hopes to show EA that it"s a good idea to have its games on Steam.
