If you want to make sure you get an Xbox One console on its November 22nd launch date and don"t want to wait in line for hours in front of a store, GameStop has a possible solution. It has announced that it is now taking pre-orders, both online and in its retail stores, for a last batch of Microsoft"s next-gen console before the launch begins.
GameStop"s press release says that these new pre-orders are for the standard edition of the Xbox One, not the "Day One" edition with the special black packaging and other differences. However, people who place orders with a $100 deposit will be able to pick up the console on the actual launch date while supplies last. Bob Puzon, senior vice president of merchandising for GameStop, is quoted as saying, "We have worked closely with Microsoft to offer our customers another opportunity to pre-order an Xbox One before its official launch date."
Microsoft has not yet said just how many Xbox One units will be available for sale in the 13 markets where the console is launching in less than four weeks. As we reported earlier this week, Blockbuster UK has gone into administration and has told its customers any pre-orders for the Xbox One and Sony"s PlayStation 4 will not be fulfilled.
