Some retailers, including GameStop in the US, started taking pre-orders for the $499.99 Xbox One game console last week. Today, there"s word that GameStop retail locations have stopped taking pre-orders for the Xbox One, due to those stores reaching their allocation limits as set by Microsoft.
Polygon reports that GameStop stores across the country, when contacted by phone, reported they could not accept any more pre-orders for the Xbox One. A GameStop store manager in California states, "We were only given an allocation of 16 Xbox Ones but we have 60 PlayStation 4s and we"re still taking orders."
Last week, GameStop stated that people could reserve their Xbox One Day One edition in their stores with a $100 deposit. An official GameStop spokesperson confirmed today that its stores are no longer taking pre-orders for the Xbox One Day One Edition but did not mention anything about reaching order limits. It added that the retailer is still taking reservations for the Xbox One on its website. Also, people can also reserve Xbox One games and its wireless controller both online and in its stores.
Microsoft said last week that the Xbox One would be released in November but did not give a specific launch date.
