It"s almost time for the weekend but before we head out to our various summer activities there were still some game news of note to write about.
- The first wave of invites to beta test the upcoming Activision stats and networking web site Call of Duty Elite were sent out earlier today.
- Speaking of Call of Duty, tickets for the upcoming fan event Call of Duty XP in Los Angeles go on sale on July 19 at 1 pm Eastern time.
- Sorry folks. Bethesda Softworks has no plan to release a demo for its upcoming fantasy RPG The Elder Scrolls V Skyrim.
- The head of the game review collection web site Metacritic has admitted it has removed an unnamed game media outlet from its list of reviews due to alleged "corrupt practices".
- Mark Turmell of EA Sports, the creator of NBA Jam, has now left EA to join Zynga to work on an unnamed game.
- The first part of the first official gameplay footage of Metro: Last Light, the upcoming post apocalypse first person shooter, has been released by THQ.
- You have until 12 noon Eastern time on Friday to play the Uncharted 3 multiplayer beta test before it shuts down.
- Gears of War 3 has been approved for sale in Germany. It"s the first time any game in Epic"s third person shooter series will be sold in that country.
- The game developer Silicon Knights has received $3 million from the Ontario government which will allow the developer to add 80 new jobs.
