Lego Universe to shut down - The family friendly MMO game based on the Lego toys, launched just over a year ago, will shut down operations after January 31, 2012 due to lack of paid subscribers. The shut down will also result in the layoffs of 115 team members who worked on the game.

Layoffs at Warner Bros. Interactive - The publisher has confirmed that it has laid off an unconfirmed number of team members at its two Seattle based development studios, Monolith Productions and Snowblind Studios. Snowblind just shipped the RPG Lord of the Rings: War in the North.

Australia R18+ game ratings guidelines announced - Australia has finalized the guidelines for the long awaited R18+ video game rating for that country but there"s still no word on when the rating will be approved.

Child"s Play 2011 holiday charity drive launched - The game-themed charity, which donates money, games and more to a number of children"s hospitals around the world, has begun its annual holiday donation drive with over $450,000 already raised.

Borderlands 2 to honor late fan of Gearbox Software - Michael John Mamari, who died of cancer last month at just 22 years of age, will be honored by Gearbox Software by placing him inside Borderlands 2 as an NPC.
