We admit it: We have been a little slack in giving you some end-of-the-day gaming news rounds-up news posts. Blame it on post E3 2011 fatigue and illness. But things will get back to normal next week. In the meantime here are just some of the more interesting news items in the past week:
- Valve apparently confirmed that it is working on a free-to-play game with a microtransaction business model. Is this the reason we haven"t heard a lot about DOTA 2?
- Speaking of Valve, they bypassed E3 but have confirmed they will attend Gamescon in Germany in August.
- id Software"s John Carmack says that if id were to do a new Quake game they might go all the way back to Quake 1 for inspiration.
- Rumors hit the Internet this week that Mass Effect 3 might have a four player co-op gameplay mode.
- Speaking of Mass Effect 3, BioWare has confirmed that the female version of Commander Shepard will appear on the box of the game"s Collector"s Edition along with an upcoming trailer.
- THQ might take the next Warhammer 40,000 Dawn of War game in a new direction.
- The hit PC 2D indie exploration game Terraria has sold a whopping 432,000 copies in just its first month.
- Some new footage from the impressive looking upcoming mech action game Hawken has been released.
- Sony Online plans to reveal more info about its upcoming sci- fi first person shooter MMO game Planetside Next at its Fan Faire event in Las Vegas in early July.
