GamrBytes :) is an occasional feature on NeoGamr that takes a step back from the big stories, to take a sideways look at what else is happening in the vast expanse of the gaming world - often with a cynical eye, and always with a dose of humour.
If you call yourself a serious gamer, you’ll surely – at some point in your illustrious gaming career – have had one of those moments when you try to imagine what your favourite game would be like if it were ‘real’, and you could actually be in it.
When you’re playing a really immersive game for hours, days, weeks on end, it’s pretty easy to see beyond the limitations of graphics, loading screens and controllers and to embrace – if only for a moment – the illusion that that character on screen could totally be you. Go on, admit it… you know you have.
One gamer has created exactly that kind of mash-up between fantasy and reality, with a video that sees him in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, fighting and defeating enemies (well, a couple of his friends who he roped into taking part), while repeatedly stopping to manage his inventory and take stuff from fallen foes. Since it was posted just five days ago, the video has already amassed over 1.3 million hits.
Imagination is a wonderful thing. Personally, I always pictured myself as Princess Toadstool from Super Mario Bros. I should probably get some help for that.
