Gas Powered Games counts down to game reveal

Gas Powered Games has been in business for a while now, and has created a number of well know PC game titles, including Dungeon Siege, Space Siege, Demigod, and Supreme Commander. For the past couple of years, the team has been developing and expanding the free-to-play RTS game Age of Empires Online for Microsoft.

This week, the developer launched a special countdown page for "Project W". The page asks us if we are "ready for something wild." The countdown clock will reach zero on January 15th, at which time we will presumably get to know what "something wild" really means.

Prior to taking over development of Age of Empires Online, Gas Powered Games was creating a new fantasy themed RTS game called Kings and Castles. The game was announced in early 2010 and in an unusual move the development of the game was chronicled via weekly video podcasts. In late 2010, the company stopped the video podcasts and in 2011 its leader Chris Taylor admitted that development of the game was being put on hold.

From the look of this new teaser page, it"s likely that this new game is not a continuation of Kings and Castles but something all new from Gas Powered Games.
