Gears 5, Dead Cells, and six more games join Xbox Game Pass in September

Microsoft"s game subscription programs continue to grow in September, as the company announced today what new titles are joining the Xbox Game Pass services across Xbox One and PC this month.

A majority of the announced games are heading to both platforms, with only Bad North skipping Xbox and Metal Gear Solid HD Edition missing on the PC end. The latter is due to it not releasing on the platform. Shadow Warrior 2, on the other hand, is already part of the Xbox One subscription.

The new announcements for the two platforms arrived separately this time, but we"ve gathered all eight of them down below.

  • Dead Cells - September 5 (Xbox One, PC)
  • Metal Gear Solid HD Edition: 2 & 3 - September 5 (Xbox One)
  • Gears 5 Ultimate Edition - September 6 (Xbox One, PC) for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate
  • Creature in the Well - September 6 (Xbox One, PC)
  • Gears 5 Standard Edition - September 10 (Xbox One, PC) for Xbox Game Pass
  • Enter the Gungeon - September 12 (Xbox One, PC)
  • Gonner Blüeberry Edition - September 12 (Xbox One, PC)
  • Bad North: Jotunn Edition (Xbox One, PC)
  • Shadow Warrior 2 (PC)

Note that Microsoft has only provided the launch dates for the games on the subscription services for the console variant, which are the ones listed above. It"s unclear if PC availability will be different or if this was an oversight.

As previously announced, Xbox Game Pass Ultimate members will be able to jump into Microsoft"s latest first-party title Gears 5 early on September 6, as they receive the game"s Ultimate Edition. Standard Xbox Game Pass subscribers will gain access to the Standard Edition along with everyone else on September 10.

Microsoft also confirmed that these won"t be the only games it will be bringing to Xbox Game Pass this month, with more to come later. There is some bad news too, however. Here"s the list of games leaving the Xbox One service"s roster this month:

  • Onrush (September 4)
  • LEGO Batman 2 (September 6)
  • Joy Ride Turbo (September 6)
  • Splosion Man (September 6)
  • The Maw (September 6)
  • LEGO Indiana Jones (September 30)
  • Shantae: Half-Genie Hero (September 30)
  • Split/Second (September 30)
  • Ninja Gaiden Black (September 30)
  • theHunter: Call of the Wild (September 30)

Xbox Game Pass monthly subscriptions arrive in three variants, with Xbox One version coming in at $9.99 per month, PC at an introductory price of $4.99 per month, as well as the Ultimate version at $14.99 per month. Ultimate provides access to both Xbox One and PC variants as well as Xbox Live Gold.

For those who are interested in joining or returning to the subscriptions, Microsoft is currently running discounts on Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC.
