It’s a brand new month and right on schedule, The Coalition is back with its monthly Gears of War 4 update. This month"s update brings along two new maps to the game, Canals and Forge Blitz, with the new trailer above showcasing both of them accompanied by plenty of action.
Canals appeared in both the original Gears of War as well as on Gears of War 2 and brings back its iconic triple bridge combat over to the series" latest iteration. Meanwhile, Forge Blitz is a new twist on the Forge map that already exists in the game, this time taking place in a Windflare damaged factory with added focus on faster gameplay.
Gears of War 4 season pass holders can jump into these maps right now on the Developer Playlist. The maps will then join public matchmaking on August 8.
Versus players are also in for a special treat this month, with the "First Win of the Day Credit Bonus" being increased to 500 Credits for the entirety of August. This is up from the usual bonus of 100 Credits players get on their first win of the day.
In addition, the developer will introduce a new Craftable Character in the form of Classic Commando Dom sometime later in the month. August"s new Horde variant event is set to begin on August 18, with "Classic One Shot One Kill" Versus event starting on August 25 on the new map, Canals.
The update also carries a score of changes to four Escalation mode maps, based on feedback that The Coalition had gathered from a pro player playtest. The modifications affect The Slab, Diner, Impact, and Lift maps, with the full list of changes available to read on the official website.
