Gears Tactics is a turn-based strategy game for PC set 12 years before Gears of War 1

In addition to a mobile game and a new main entry to the franchise, Gears of War seems to be getting a very XCOM-esque spin-off title, with The Coalition announcing Gears Tactics at Microsoft"s E3 conference. Although the teaser we received was short, there were some interesting details shared onstage by The Coalition Studio Head, Rod Fergusson.

The game will be a prequel to the original Gears of War, taking place 12 years before Marcus Fenix"s journey, where players will be forming a COG squad to seek and destroy a locust that is taking down entire cities.

Fergusson described the game saying that "it"s our take on the classic turn-based strategy genre with a character-driven story, faster and more aggressive gameplay" as well as "customizable squads and equipment." He concluded the teaser saying that the series staple feature of massive boss battles will be returning for this title as well.

Interestingly, Gears Tactics seems to be exclusive to the PC, with more details incoming at a later date.
