Ubisoft is trying out a new tactic to gain more players to its open-world tactical game Ghost Recon Breakpoint. Owners of the title now have the ability to send out invites to their friends who do not own a copy to experience the entire game for free together.
The Friend Pass offer lasts until June 16 and is available across PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4. Up to three friends can be invited over to play Breakpoint in co-op at any time, and they don’t have to be the same people every time either. Obviously, all players must be playing using the same platform, and on consoles, a PlayStation Plus or Xbox Live Gold account is required for this.
Moreover, Ubisoft is introducing a Ghost Recon Breakpoint Trial. As its name suggests, this is a short demo with a timer attached that allows complete access to the game. Anybody using the platforms mentioned above can download this trial and experience the game for six hours before needing to purchase it. The trial client will always be available from now on.
The aforementioned Friend Pass also uses the same trial version, but when connecting to a friend with an invite, that six-hour timer pauses, allowing unlimited play.
The Ghost Recon Breakpoint trial (or demo) is now available to download via Uplay and Epic Games Store for PC, Microsoft Store for Xbox One, and PlayStation Store for PlayStation 4.
The timing for these initiatives makes sense, as a major update to the game landed just last week, carrying an "Immersive Experience" mode that removes poorly-received features like gear level and tiered loot to offer tactically minded players more of a challenge. There is a new storyline featuring Splinter Cell"s Sam Fisher as well.
