Ghost Recon Wildlands received the final update of its second year of support back in February with Special Operations 4. However, in usual Ubisoft fashion, the company today announced yet another free update, Operation Oracle, that will land later this week.
This update will carry a narrative arc featuring two new missions, with players clashing with another Ghost Team Leader, Major Cole D. Walker. As evident by the promotional material, Walker is played by Jon Bernthal, who some might recognize as The Punisher from the Netflix series. This is probably as close as we get to an official crossover, considering the series has been canceled.
This doesn"t appear to be a normal mission update, however, as Ubisoft calls players to "explore thoroughly" during Operation Oracle, adding "What you will discover here might very well set the scene for the future." This may be hinting at the update laying the groundwork for a new Ghost Recon game, or perhaps another year of content for the current title.
The new missions are playable both solo or with up to four players, and those who complete them will receive new cosmetic rewards. The Operation Oracle update will go live on May 2 across PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4.
Moreover, Ubisoft is holding a free weekend for Ghost Recon Wildlands across all platforms starting on May 2 as well. During this event, the entire game will be accessible for free, including the new Operation Oracle content.
