Ghost Recon Wildlands gets a horde mode and more with Special Operation 4 update

The final major update of Ghost Recon Wildlands" Year 2 plan - Special Operations 4 - is coming tomorrow, and Ubisoft unveiled the update details in full today. Unlike previous operations which introduced specialized crossover missions with other Tom Clancy games of Ubisoft, this new update is carrying an entirely new game mode: Guerilla.

The mode pits up to four players into a wave-based battle where they must defend locations "against an onslaught of Cartel and Unidad attackers." As usual with horde modes, players can upgrade their gear between wave rounds with new weapons, attachments, and perks.

The head to head multiplayer mode, Ghost War, is getting some updates too, with the Sapper joining as a new Support class. The Sapper is equipped with a special drone that can shoot concussion mines for suppressing enemies. Ghost War is also getting two new maps, "a Unidad airbase and a gas station," as well as two new events: Arms Race and Danger Zone.

In addition to all this, Ubisoft has also brought in some new features to help players in their journey to free Bolivia from the cartel. Here"s how the studio described them:

Special Operation 4 introduces a host of new features and improvements, including daily campaign challenges, time-of-day setting, bleeding notifications, and a PvE compass HUD option. It also introduces a new Heatmap view, showing players the locations they"ve visited the most – and the ones they"ve never been to.

Ghost Recon Wildlands Special Operations 4 update is slated to land tomorrow, February 27 for PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4. However, only Year 2 season pass owners will get to play the new Guerrilla mode and the Sapper, for now, thanks to their seven-days of early access. Regular players will get to experience the two additions on March 6.
