Ghostwire: Tokyo gameplay deep dive shows off the supernatural action game

While Bethesda and its studios are now under Microsoft"s wing, there is still one PlayStation timed console exclusive coming out from the now Xbox first-party developer Tango Gameworks, Ghostwire: Tokyo. Today for the first time, Sony gave an extended look at the gameplay of this spellcasting action game, catch full reveal showcase above.

As evident from the title, the game takes place in Tokyo, where a mass supernatural event has made its inhabitants disappear, and get replaced by all sorts of unnatural beings, both friendly and not. Players will be meeting a wide range of characters from Japanese legends and folklore in the main missions and extensive side quests. Aside from the usual monsters and ghosts, several back flipping headless undead schoolgirls can even be seen at some points.

As the trailer shows off, the gameplay is a far cry from the studio"s earlier works like The Evil Within series, offering a much more action-packed experience, this time in first person. The player controls the elements for offensive and defensive spells, in addition a bow and arrow, and items like talismans, for flashy expulsions of spirits.

The game was aiming for a 2021 release before being delayed to early 2022, and now (after a leak or two) the game has an official launch date: March 25. It will land on PC and PlayStation 5, with the console exclusivity lasting for a year much like Deathloop. Pre-purchasing the Deluxe Edition will let players jump in three days early and also receive some in-game goodies.
