Gmail is 5 years old today

It"s hard to believe but five years ago Gmail was launched and changed how we view email storage forever. If you recall when Gmail was made semi-public it shattered the email storage capacity for any available free service. Storage was measured in gigs and you seemingly could store unlimited amounts of emails.

The Gmail launch also started a frenzy of trying to acquire an invite to the service. It was a clever but very effective technique by Google to give out invites to users who would then get 10 more invites and so on which caused people to start selling them on Ebay.

It"s been a good tenure so far for Gmail and the email service has experienced a wide adoption rate and rave reviews. Hopefully the next five years will bring more innovation and new features that will bring new ideas to the email front.
