GoDaddy.com offers one month credit for downtime

Monday"s online outage that affected GoDaddy.com, and millions of other websites it services, will result in a pretty nice compensation package to the affected customers. In an email, GoDaddy"s interim CEO Scott Wagner said the company is giving a one month credit to all of the company"s websites that it hosts or services.

News.com reports that GoDaddy.com customers were offered the credit via a special link in their email, but they must click on that link within the next several days to get the one free month. However, that"s certainly a generous credit considering that GoDaddy.com"s services were down for just a few hours on Monday.

Wagner also seemed to be very apologetic for what happened on Monday. His email stated, "We let you down and we know it. We take our responsibilities -- and the trust you place in us -- very seriously. I cannot express how sorry I am to those of you who were inconvenienced."

GoDaddy said in an earlier statement on Tuesday that the problems it encountered were caused by "a series of internal network events that corrupted router data tables." It denied that the company"s problems were caused by one or more hackers in a cyber attack, despite attempts by groups associated with Anonymous to take the blame for GoDaddy"s issues.
