The GOG Galaxy 2.0 client entered the open beta phase last year, and has received one major update, Theia, since then. Now, the CD Projekt-owned store is planning to introduce a highly requested feature to the unified library manager: support for purchasing games from other stores in addition to GOG via the client.
The feature is currently in internal testing at the company, and invites are rolling out to some users that lets them "buy games from a selection of hand-picked Epic Games Store exclusive titles." As the test continues, more games and features from other platforms, as well as further invites will be rolling out.
As it can be seen on the images shared by GOG, current Epic exclusives like The Outer Worlds and Maneater will simply appear alongside GOG store"s own DRM-free titles as available for purchase. This won"t be just a web page that opens through the Galaxy 2.0 client either, as GOG is extending its 30-days refund policy and 24/7 support benefits to these purchases from external stores.
While only the Epic Games Store is part of these initial tests, it will be interesting to see what other platforms decide to support this endeavor and offer their own wares on GOG in the future. Those interested in joining the GOG Galaxy 2.0 client"s open beta can download it via its official website.
