GOG Galaxy client now offers universal cloud saves, comes out of beta

The GOG Galaxy PC gaming client is leaving the beta title behind, with the arrival of the 1.2 update, which the developers call its biggest yet. Announced back in 2014 by GOG, the client offers optional features for games sold through the service"s digital distribution platform such as auto updates and achievement tracking.

Universal Cloud Saving is the main aspect of the new update, with GOG saying that this allows you "to add cloud saving functionality not only to new games, but also to titles that never offered cloud saving before."

Further highlights include a hibernation mode to reduce client CPU usage when idle, auto-update schedules, and bandwidth limits, an FPS counter, as well as options for turning off individual features to customize the client in the revamped settings page. The in-game overlay and desktop notification systems mean much easier ways of communicating and keeping up with friends in any situation.

The client download page has more information on its old and new features. Official availability is slated for sometime in April, but those who opt in to receive preview updates in the client can try out GOG Galaxy 1.2 update right now.
