It"s been nine months since Google released the Marshmallow update, but hundreds of millions of Android devices continue to run earlier versions of the OS. But it looks like Samsung may be preparing to add another of its not-exactly-new devices to the list of those eligible to upgrade.
According to SamMobile, the company is intending to upgrade the original Galaxy Tab S to Marshmallow during this calendar quarter. The device was announced in June 2014, and released a few weeks later.
The report claims that Samsung should deliver the update either this month or in August "but it shouldn"t take longer than that" - although the company hasn"t confirmed that information. Samsung has recently updated many of its smartphones and tablets to the latest public release of the OS, Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow, so it seems likely that the same version will make its way to the Galaxy Tab S when its rollout finally begins.
Meanwhile, Android 7.0 Nougat is due to arrive this summer, but given the age of the Galaxy Tab S, Marshmallow may well be its last official update.
