Google adds Android phone backups to Google One

Last year, Google introduced Google One, a new plan that superseded Google Drive, introducing more storage at a lower price and access to Google specialists in case any help was needed. Now, the Mountain View giant is expanding the offering with a new feature: Android phone backups.

If you"re thinking Android phones already backup your data automatically, you"re not wrong. However, the Google One version is different - in addition to texts, contacts, and apps, it"ll back up your photos as well. And those photos won"t be compressed, either. Google says photo backups will be in original quality, which is a good perk all on its own. Backups also include videos and MMS messages.

Google One plans start at just $1.99 per month for 100GB of storage and go up to 30TB if you"re willing to shell out $300 per month. One of the more noteworthy options is the 2TB plan, which costs $9.99 per month. That"s the same price as Microsoft charges for the Office 365 Home subscription that includes just 1TB of storage. Microsoft only recently announced it will give users the option to pay for extra storage up to 2TB, but that will double the cost over Google"s offering.

If you"re interested, you can sign up for a paid Google One plan from its official website.
