Google admits Google+ isn't ready for businesses

The launch of Google"s social networking service Google+ happened last week in a limited fashion. Yet the service is already booming at least compared to Google"s last attempt in this business Google Buzz. One of the things that Google+ isn"t really set up for is for businesses to create their own Google+ pages. It"s a situation that Google itself is already well aware of.

In a post on his Google+ page, team member Christian Oestlien states humorously, " ... it was kind of an awkward moment for us when we asked Ford for his (or was it her?) gender!" He added that how individuals communicate on Google+ should be different than how companies communicate and "... we want to create an optimal experience for both. We have a great team of engineers actively building an amazing Google+ experience for businesses, and we will have something to show the world later this year."

While Google may be making a business-based Google+ it doesn"t currently want those companies to launch their own Google+ pages in its current format. Oestlien states, " ... we are discouraging businesses from using regular profiles to connect with Google+ users. Our policy team will actively work with profile owners to shut down non-user profiles."

In the meantime Google is gearing up to launch a small pilot program with a few select businesses for Google+ and is taking sign ups for businesses that want to be a part of the small program at this web site. You can also check out a video (shown below) where Oestlien goes into a little more detail about their plans for Google+ for business.
