Ever since its unveiling back in October 2016, Google has been improving its Assistant digital service, and expanding it to Android TV, Android phones built by OEMs, iOS devices, and smart speakers. Now, at CES 2018, Google has announced that it is bringing Assistant to Android Auto as well.
If all this time you believed that you were using Google Assistant with Android Auto in your car, you were wrong. Apparently, you were utilizing Google"s older Voice digital assistant. In terms of functionality, Google Assistant is arguably more superior with additional functionalities such as allowing users to control their smart home devices via the digital assistant.
While all of Assistant"s functionalities weren"t shown off during the CES demo or in the YouTube video, we do know that you can utilize it to ask for directions, reserve a parking spot, or order from Starbucks. From what is currently known, Google Assistant will be arriving to Android Auto this week for people in the United States, and that it will offer support for a number of car manufacturers including Ford, Honda, Nissan, and Cadillac.
