Google begins rolling out April patch for Pixel devices with Bluetooth fixes

It is a new month, meaning that it is time for the monthly Android Security Bulletin that Google releases every month. The company lists the security vulnerabilities fixed in the month’s update in its monthly bulletin, which for this month includes security patch level 2020-04-05. This patch fixes 43 vulnerabilities in addition to the 12 fixed by the 2020-04-01 patch level. There are a few that are categorized as critical since they can enable attackers to execute code remotely.

Along with the security bulletin, the company also provides a list of fixes for its Pixel line of devices. While the devices received numerous new features last month, this month’s update brings a few functional patches with Bluetooth improvements and addressed an issue associated with a lag in opening the keyboard in certain apps. These updates apply to Pixel 2, 3, 3a, and 4. The first-generation Pixel is no longer supported.

As usual, Android partners are notified of all issues at least a month in advance. The company releases source code to the Android Open Source Project (AOSP) repository within two days of the bulletin being published. Pixel users will receive the update as part of an over-the-air (OTA) update.

For Pixel users that wish to download the OTA images, you can find the packages here. You can also download the factory images from here. However, it must be noted that users should take a device backup before sideloading images so as to avoid loss of personal data.
