Google already offers the Home Hub since announcing it in October of last year, but the Assistant-powered smart display lacks a holistic offering for consumers as it doesn"t have a camera onboard. It appears now that Google, in collaboration with Nest, may be working on a new smart display that offers just that and a lot more.
The Mountain View-based giant momentarily listed the new Nest Hub Max on its online storefront a few hours ago before taking the page down. The smart display features a 10-inch HD screen and includes a built-in Nest camera. The Nest Hub Max will also work to send alerts to homeowners when it detects motion and sound.
Additionally, the smart display allows users to make Google Duo calls using the camera. While the current Home Hub already does offer that capability, the experience is limited only to audio. Plus, the Nest Hub Max includes stereo speakers that promise to offer better audio quality than that of the Home Hub.
For now, pricing and availability details of the Nest Hub Max are not certain as it was only briefly showcased on the Google Store. But its appearance makes sense given the amalgamation of Google"s Hardware division and Nest early last year.
