Google announced today that it is introducing a handful of new updates for its G Suite service meant to help users complete their tasks in the workplace using artificial intelligence. Google Docs is one of the G Suite tools to receive new improvements such as Smart Compose (in beta for now), first announced for Gmail earlier last year.
In addition, Google"s grammar suggestions tool will go live for Docs in G Suite in the coming weeks. The tool uses Google"s neural network technology and it was first unveiled earlier in 2018. Its objective is to help users get rid of embarrassing grammatical faux pas like the wrong use of articles and wrong subordinate clauses, among others.
Google is also introducing spelling autocorrect to Docs in the near future. It"s the same tool already used in Gmail and it works by learning new words or phrases using Google Search to offer spelling corrections. On top of that, the tool is expanding its capability to provide more tailored spelling suggestions based on commonly used words or acronyms within a particular organization.
The Mountain View-based tech giant is also adding the ability for G Suite users to have Google Assistant read their calendar schedule, create events, or cancel and reschedule events. This capability is available in beta for now.
In addition to managing your Google Calendar by voice, you can now send messages or join calls on the fly with Assistant. Also, the personal assistant is now available in meeting rooms with Asus Hangouts Meet Hardware kit, allowing users to join or leave a meeting and make a phone call using voice commands.
