Google brings the Arcade Fire to HTML5

Google has teamed up with the band Arcade Fire to bring a totally new experience to the web. The duo created a highly creative website that demonstrates the power of HTML5 on Google Chrome.

The website project by Google and Arcade fire, https://www.thewildernessdowntown.com, allows the user to enter an address with an available streetview, and then uses Google Map"s images and panoramic views right in the video.

Each user experience is totally unique, based on their own address, which allows for an unlimited number of combinations for the video. The video works best in Google Chrome, however also works in other supported HTML5 browsers.

The video uses streetview and satellite imagery from Google Maps in the video, using local landmarks or even images from your own street. Google also included a postcard maker on the website, allowing you to freely draw with your mouse or type with your keyboard, adding effects as you draw or type.

The song featured in the video is called “We Used to Wait” by Arcade Fire from their newly released album The Suburbs. The concert was streamed live last month on YouTube to 3.7 million viewers.
