Google changes its blasphemous ways with a proper burger emoji

Last month, the internet discovered that companies like Apple and Google don"t know how to make a proper cheeseburger, at least if you look at their emoji selections. The issue caused some serious beef on social networks like Twitter.

Google CEO Sundar Pichai promised to get right to work on fixing the issue, as long as people can agree on the proper way to add toppings to a cheeseburger.

Will drop everything else we are doing and address on Monday:) if folks can agree on the correct way to do this! https://t.co/dXRuZnX1Ag

As it turned out, Pichai wasn"t joking. When the company released Android 8.1 Developer Beta 2 yesterday, it included an all-new cheeseburger emoji, this time made properly. The cheese is on top of the patty, and the lettuce is insulated from the heat of the burger with a tomato slice.

But that"s not all, because after people noticed the frankly blasphemous burger emoji, they started looking at the rest of the emoji selection that Google offers. As it turns out, the beer emoji was problematic as well.

Obviously, beer can"t have a head coming out of the glass if it"s not filled to the top. And then there was the Swiss cheese emoji, which looked like the holes were painted on.

As of Google"s most recent usage report, Android 8.0 Oreo is only installed on 0.3% of Google Play devices, an increase of 0.1 from the month before. While Android 8.1 Oreo is still in beta, you can still expect a similarly slow rollout after it"s released.
