The excitement that once surrounded the release of the Google Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL have now turned into anger and concern. If unfamiliar, Google"s handsets, particularly the Pixel 2 XL, have not fared well in the press since its release, being hindered by different issues when it comes to its display. Most recently, it was reported that the handsets also suffer from some sort of audible clicking noise or high pitched tone when in use.
While it certainly seems like Google has a lot to iron out, it looks like the firm has responded in regards to the audio issues. Orin, who is a community manager for Pixel, states:
Hey all,
We are investigating a faint, low-frequency “clicking” or “ticking” noise that a small number of Pixel 2 users have reported. This clicking noise does not affect the performance of your device beyond the audible noise. If you find the noise bothersome, we suggest temporarily turning off NFC (used by apps like Android Pay) in Settings > Connected devices > NFC. We are investigating and will have a more definitive response soon.
While some will find solace with the temporary solution, it certainly is troubling that Google"s new Pixel 2 handsets are suffering from so many issues.
