Google rolled out a search feature last year meant to help students find more details about four-year universities. That tool was designed provide information about a school"s acceptance rates, costs, and student outcomes.
Today, the search giant is extending that functionality to searches for two-year colleges and associate programs offered by universities. Using their mobile devices, students can search for information about two-year colleges like admission costs, programs offered, tuition fees, and costs of books and housing.
Students can also create a list of colleges based on various factors including fields of study and location. Different filters can also be added to search like acceptance rates, region, distance, and size of the college. Google says students can use this tool to make comparisons between different schools and choose the one that matches their needs. This feature is available both on mobile and desktop.
The information that Google supplies to anyone who uses this feature comes from the U.S. Department of Education’s College Scorecard and Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System. The Mountain View-based internet giant says it has collaborated with " education researchers, experts, nonprofit organizations, high school counselors, and admissions professionals" to develop this tool, available to U.S. students from today.
