For the first time since October 26, Google has updated its usage share report for Android. Typically, the report is released monthly, so there are some big changes. Up until yesterday, one could reasonably say that Android 9.0 Pie is on less than 0.1% of Google Play devices according to the company"s most recent report. Now it"s on 10.4%.
The results are according to data collected during a seven-day period ending on May 7.
Version | Codename | API | Distribution |
---|---|---|---|
2.3.3-2.3.7 | Gingerbread | 10 | 0.3% |
4.0.3-4.0.4 | Ice Cream Sandwich | 15 | 0.3% |
4.1.x | Jelly Bean | 16 | 1.2% |
4.2.x | 17 | 1.5% | |
4.3 | 18 | 0.5% | |
4.4 | KitKat | 19 | 6.9% |
5.0 | Lollipop | 21 | 3.0% |
5.1 | 22 | 11.5% | |
6.0 | Marshmallow | 23 | 16.9% |
7.0 | Nougat | 24 | 11.4% |
7.1 | 25 | 7.8% | |
8.0 | Oreo | 26 | 12.9% |
8.1 | 27 | 15.4% | |
9.0 | Pie | 28 | 10.4% |
Anything that"s not on the list is on fewer than 0.1% of Google Play devices, so that would include things like the Android Q beta, Android 3 Honeycomb, and versions before Gingerbread like FroYo and Eclair.
There"s not much to compare the numbers with, being that it"s been so long since we"ve had an Android usage report. This is the first time we"ve seen Pie on the list, even though it was announced last August. Even though Android Q is just around the corner, Pie should continue to gain momentum for a while to come.
