Google announced group plans for Project Fi today, which will allow up to six people to share a single account. Pricing doesn"t change; it"s still $15 per user for unlimited talk and text, and then $10 per gigabyte of data used.
As with personal plans, there are no contracts, and you"ll get refunded for any data that you paid for and didn"t use. For example, if you paid $20 for 2GB and only used 1.5GB, you"ll get $5 back.
Members of a group will also be able to check up on their data usage within the Project Fi app, while managers can check up on all users within the group. You can also set it to send you a notification when you reach a certain amount of usage.
Google recently announced the Pixel and Pixel XL, which are to be the latest phones to support its Project Fi network. Despite this, the company is committing to continuing to sell the Nexus 5X and 6P on its website, which will be offered for $150- and $100-off their normal retail prices, respectively.
The company has been continuing to expand its cellular network, which was originally based off of a combination of Sprint, T-Mobile, and Wi-Fi. In June, US Cellular was added, and in July, the first international carrier, Three, became the latest partner.
