Google I/O 2018: Android Dashboard will show how you use your digital time

Google has announced that it is launching Android Dashboard. The new feature is aimed at showing people how they use their time when on their phones and tablets. The new app shows features such as how long you spend on apps, the number of times you unlock your phone on a given day, and the number of notifications you got.

In order to help further, YouTube will be receiving new features later this week which allow you to set ‘take a break’ reminders, and there will also be an option to receive notifications as a daily digest instead of all at once, meaning you’ll be less tempted to check your phone as often.

Before signing off on the topic of screen time, Sundar also reiterated the fact that the firm has been providing parents will tools to help manage the amount of time their children spend in front of devices. He showed off the Family Link which gives parents control over their child’s phone and tablet usage but he also talked about the Be Internet Awesome campaign which helps kids explore the internet safely. He stated that Google wanted kids to be “secular, kind, and mindful when online” and that an addition five million children will be put through the programme this year.

These are just some of the initiatives that Google is undertaking, for a complete list of tool that Google offer, check the Digital Wellbeing website.
