Google had a rough time last year, stemming from the multiple issues with its Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL. Now, it looks like the company is facing a lawsuit, stemming from an issue with its original Pixel and Pixel XL.
The class-action suit was filed this week and the plaintiffs are alleging that the microphones in their Pixel devices were defective since the handsets" first release. If this is true, this becomes a huge problem for Google because it was knowingly selling products that were defective. The lawsuit claims that while Google did provide replacements for defective phones under warranty, those replacements still had the same problems, meaning that customers, were caught in a vicious cycle, and in the end, left with a defective product.
The problem of the microphone was detailed on Google"s support forums, where it acknowledged that a “hairline crack in the solder connection on the audio codec” could cause an issue where all the microphones on the device could go out. If you are affected with a defective handset, you will most likely want to follow the story closely over the next several months to see what comes of it.
