Google is working on a fix for its Pixel camera issue

It seems that some Google Pixel owners are experiencing an excessive lens flareeffect in their photographs. Google has now acknowledged the issue and states that there is a fix on the way.

If there is one thing that stands out on the Pixel, it"s the impressive camera, which has been lauded by consumers and reviewers alike. While a halo or lens flare can appear when taking a photo, what is happening with the Pixel, is in fact, an issue. Luckily it seems to be software related, as Google"s Isaac Reynolds (IsaacOnCamera) explains:

You can expect a software update in the next few weeks that will improve the effects of this issue. We"re working on some algorithms that recognize the halo/arc flare, characterize it mathematically, and then subtract it from the image. :-) You will need to use HDR+ to see the benefits of this software. Also, there is no point getting your device replaced thanks to this issue. The Pixel camera"s lens structure is very highly controlled -- this means that all Pixels take high-quality images, but it also means all Pixels have the same flare characteristics.

For now, users will have to deal with the issue, as the fix will not be available for another few weeks. The Google Pixel and Pixel XL is currently being sold directly through the Google Store and can also be purchased from Verizon in the US. While you can process your order through Google, there is still a wait time of around three to four weeks before it actually ships.
