Google Meet rolling out noise cancellation to Android and iOS, but there's a catch

Google is now rolling out background noise cancellation for Meet on iOS and Android devices. However, not everyone can use it as only G Suite Enterprise and G Suite Enterprise for Education customers have access to the feature. Background noise cancellation was first rolled out on Meet for the web earlier this year.

The search giant announced today that Meet will be able to automatically eliminate noise such as the audio input from your smartphone. In addition, it can filter out other types of noise in the background like the bark of a dog and keystrokes. In effect, the videoconferencing service lets only your voice through during a call.

By default, the feature is disabled. To enable it on Android or iOS, you can simply tap on the three-dot "More" menu on your screen during a call and tap on Settings. From there, you can turn on noise cancellation.

The feature is available starting today. However, users in Australia, Brazil, India, Japan, New Zealand, South Africa, United Arab Emirates, and the immediately surrounding regions won"t have access to it.
