Google introduced a tiled view to its Meet video calling app on desktop last year along with other improvements such as the ability to replace or blur backgrounds, mute all participants, and more. The tile view feature, in particular, comes in handy especially during large meetings when it can be otherwise hard to see everyone.
Now, that feature is arriving on mobile. Google announced today that it is rolling out tile view on mobile phones, starting with iOS devices.

Today"s rollout doesn"t come as a surprise after Google briefly mentioned earlier this month the feature"s arrival on mobile. This was part of a bigger announcement about new Workspace features designed for remote work and the availability of Workspace services via Assistant.
With tile view on mobile, you can now see more people at once during a video call. On iPhones and iPads, you can view up to eight participants simultaneously and their names will be displayed on each box.
It"s not clear, though, whether the integrated Meet experience within Gmail is part of the latest release. In the future, Google also plans to launch tile view on Android devices.
Other improvements being planned for Meet on mobile this year include split-screen, picture-in-picture mode, background replace, polls, and Q&A. Google is also improving second-screen experiences on Meet with the ability to join chats, polls, and Q&As on any device such as Nest Hub Max.
