Google introduced new privacy controls in the Pay app late last year allowing you to enable (or disable) its personalization features, making it easier for the search giant to show you offers based on your app activity. These controls were announced as part of a major redesign to the digital payment service, and Google is rolling them out in India soon.
Google announced today that it will launch those controls on the Pay app in India next week to improve user privacy. The new capabilities will give you more control of your transaction data and activity within the app with a new toggle button that lets you turn Pay"s personalization features on or off.
If you opt to disable personalization, the app will be prevented from giving you tailored offers, for example. Otherwise, Google will show you more personalized experiences in terms of offers and rewards based on your Pay activity.
In addition, you can choose individual transactions that you don"t want to be used to personalize your experience by deleting those activity records. Of course, Pay will work as usual even if you disable these personalization features.
The new controls will be immediately accessible as soon as you update to the latest version of Pay on Android and iOS. For new users, these options will be shown upfront when you download the app.
