A leak from late last month had claimed that Google was preparing to announce the Pixel 4a towards the middle of May and then launch it on May 22. However, the launch of the device seems to have been pushed back to the first week of June.
The source of the leak does not provide any reason behind the delay, though it should be quite obvious as to why the announcement has been pushed back. Google was scheduled to hold its I/O conference from May 12-14 before it was forced to cancel it due to the coronavirus pandemic. The company was likely planning on announcing the Pixel 4a at its developer conference. With the I/O event itself canceled and Google now holding an Android 11 Beta Launch show on June 3, it is possible that the device would be launched during the online event. The teaser for the event also seems to hint at just that with this line: "...a whole bunch of other stuff we"re not ready to tell you about yet."
The Pixel 4a has leaked extensively over the last couple of months and almost everything about it is now known. It will feature a 5.81-inch FHD+ OLED display with a punch-hole to accommodate the selfie camera. It will be powered by Snapdragon 730 chipset, an Adreno 618 GPU, 6GB RAM, up to 128GB storage, and a 3,080mAh battery with 18W fast charging support. The Pixel 4a will include a single 12.2MP camera at the rear, while there will be an 8MP shooter at the front.
Are you looking forward to the launch of Pixel 4a?
