Google Pixel 4's Soli radar will not be available in some countries

Plenty of information regarding Google"s upcoming Pixel 4 smartphone has been leaked over the past few months. And as it heads closer to release, we can expect even more details to be unveiled, leaving little left to the imagination. Nearing the end of July, Google revealed that its Soli radar will be included in the flagship handset. The new sensor will help users perform various actions, like skipping songs and snoozing alarms, through simple gestures such as waving your hand.

Now, the folks over at XDA-Developers have spotted that Best Buy"s landing page for the Pixel 4 has information regarding the availability of Motion Sense, which utilizes the Soli radar chip located in the top bezel.

Although the page seems to have since been updated to only note that the feature "may not be functional in all Pixel countries", it previously noted:

Not functional in Japan. Motion Sense functional in the US, Canada, Singapore, Australia, Taiwan, and most European countries. Not all phone features are controlled by Motion Sense. For more information see g.co/pixel/motionsense.

The link at the end of the note does not work, so, for now, we only know the regions that can expect availability. However, from the wording of the description, it"s clear that there will be some European countries in which the Pixel 4 is launched but without the Motion Sense functionality. We won"t know for sure until Google officially confirms the regions that will be left out, however.

In the past few months, we"ve seen Google unveil renders for the upcoming handset"s standard variant, as well as unofficial Pixel 4 XL renders. More recently, there have been rumors regarding a 90Hz "Smooth Display" for the smartphone. The Pixel 4 series of smartphones is expected to be unveiled in October at the Made By Google event, if the tech giant follows the release patterns from previous years.
